I Regret My Tattoo

I Regret My Tattoo

Tattoos probably seemed like a good idea when you were younger. But now that your ink is faded and stretched out, you probably wish you would have thought twice about getting it.

Are you embarrassed by your tattoo? Do you cover it up every chance you get?

Tattoo removal can help you get clear, beautiful skin again. At Selah Medi Spa, located in Katy, Texas, we offer tattoo removal so you can stop hiding the tattoos you regret.

Tattoos & your skin

It’s not uncommon for you to change your mind — especially after getting a tattoo. 75% of respondents in one survey regretted at least one of their tattoos. If you’re part of this group, just know you can do something about it.

All tattoos fade over time. While the sun can greatly fade ink, your body also works to fade it, because it recognizes it as a foreign substance and attempts to eliminate the ink particles. Tattoo removal works similarly.

How we remove ink

When you got your tattoo, the artist used a needle to place the ink in different depths of your dermis. Our team of highly experienced skin technicians use targeted medical lasers that emit pulses of light energy deep into your dermis.

When the lasers are run over your old ink, they shatter the tattoo ink into smaller pieces so your body can easily flush them out. The ink that was placed in more shallow layers is generally removed first, so fully removing all your ink often can take 6-8 sessions.

Does it hurt?

If you’ve heard one thing about tattoo removal, you’ve probably heard how badly it hurts. While some discomfort is involved, most patients tolerate the procedure well — many say it hurts less than getting the tattoo.

You can expect it to feel similar to a bad sunburn or having a rubber band snapped on your skin. Depending on the size of your tattoo, most sessions take around 10 minutes, so the treatment will be over before you know it. For patients who are worried about pain, we can apply a topical numbing agent before treatment.

After care

After your appointment, you might notice that your skin has some redness and discomfort. To help ensure you heal as quickly as possible, it is best to follow these tips:

Cover the treated area with antibiotic ointment for three days and keep it bandaged with sterile gauze. Do not apply any other creams or makeup to the area.

After three days, you can remove the bandage and wash the treated area. It is important to keep the area as clean and dry as possible. You can apply Vaseline, hydrocortisone cream, and Aquaphor to keep your skin moisturized.

We suggest applying some Vitamin E oil as well, because it can help restore damaged skin and promote healthy healing. Sun exposure is not good for skin treated with lasers, so avoid it. Apply SPF 25 or greater every time you go outside.

Is it right for me?

Fading, blurry tattoos can hinder your self-esteem. Rather than just accepting this, tattoo removal can help you get fresh and clear skin again.

Tattoo removal is a completely personal choice and should only be done for yourself. It may be a good option for you if you:
